I'm super happy with this new group of prints.
This idea is something I've been working with since 2008.
Layering bike silhouettes into a jumble.
It started as relief prints with the bikes cut out of rubber and applied stamp like
until I got what I wanted. Now they are screenprints with the bikes in bold rich colors.

I got through the group and add a single bike, deciding where to place it on each print.
I'm thinking about composition and color
watching how each bike affects the whole piece.

I make these prints to get the ink going
and make sure it is printing right.
Each sheet gets printed on again and again.
These test prints end up looking so cool
that they get to be finished prints themselves.

This is based on a painting from earlier this year.
The bike is a beautiful piece of American history.
It is a one of the first Schwinn Paramount track bikes ever made, built in 1938.
I like that the graphic reads as a bike, while being very bold, simple and unusual.

Smooth, flat screenprinted color
